Doghouse Swine: Fearless (EP)
RoughEdge review of 'Fearless' - March 2015
"Fearless" (Manta Ray Records; 2015)
Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton
"Fearless," by NY/NJ's Doghouse Swine, is a rough and raw rock'n'roll record that reminds me a little of the legendary Dead Boys. It may not be quiteas rough and raw as the Dead Boys were, but they're pretty damn close. It's got driving rhythms, raunchy guitars and straight-forward punk rock vocal yells with no melodic singing and no death metal growls but just nice rounded aggression.
The songs are solid and fast-paced from beginning to end which isn't that surprising considering the six-track running length of just under seventeen minutes. And those seventeen minutes will leave you aurally battered yet ready for more.
Those looking for some un-refined, ass-kicking, unadulterated rock'n'roll need look no further than "Fearless." In fact, my only complaint about this CD is that it's all over too fast!

"This Is cool Stuff" - G.W. Hill --- Music Street Journal Review of 'Fearless' march -2015
Review by G. W. Hill
I love music that combines different sounds to create something unique. Of course, really, “sounds” or genre are artificial designations in order to better organize and classify things. Music is music and most often a reflection of the artistic journey of the participants. Stoll, this has a lot of cool, somewhat diverse elements. Overall, the best description would be punk rock, but there is a lot of metal in the mix. Of course, metal and punk are kind of cousins, anyway. There is also a healthy helping of psychedelia in the mix here. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts, though, and this is cool stuff.
Track by Track Review
I love the mean sound on the guitar here. This is a high energy stomper that’s part metal and part punk. It works through several changes, turning more toward hardcore late.
Raw and screaming hot, this is more scorching punk rock. It has more of a psychedelic edge to it in some ways.
Get Some
This is more pure punk, but not as energized as the first couple tunes. Still, it has some hints of metal and some definite energy. I just like the first couple songs better than this one.
Knew It All
The first half of this isn’t a big change. Then it launches out into a guitar solo based instrumental section that’s on fire.
Born in the Hole
Raw punk, this is a killer cut. It’s one of the best here. It’s just packed with anger and energy.
Out of Time
I love the bass sound that starts this. As the guitar joins, the sound makes me think of a slower Dead Kennedys. I love the fuzz laden guitar solo section on this cut.
The Music Farmer - Feb 2015
is a rock band out of the New York area, and the definition "rock band" may be a bit of an understatement. They are more of a "thrash your head around while screaming in your car" band.
is set to release an EP (titled ) on February 24, and it looks like it's already off to a great start. Their single off the album, "," is energetic, raw, and in-your-face.Were on The Perris Records CD Sampler for Issue #21, with a full page interview and ad, these compiation CD's are available at 300 music stores across the country, and can be downloaded as well.
